Literacy
Today, think about and then write a few sentences about what you have been doing over the last few days.  What did you do over the weekend? What games did you play? What was the weather like?  Could you play outside? Did you make anything? This is a bit of home news.

Read some books on Bug Club.

Maths
Introducing teen numbers as a visual. 11-14
See if you have something around the house, such as straws, that could be used to make groups of ten. Ask children to make a group of ten of them and put an elastic band round them.  Place the bundle on the table and show one more straw next to it.  Say that this is 11 and show a number card with 11 or write the number on a piece os paper.  Point out that there is one group of 10 and another one and that is 11.  Do the same with ten other objects – a group of ten and one makes the number 11.

Go on a treasure hunt to find a teens number of objects. You could ask them to find that number of the same objects or of different types objects – it doesn’t matter what the objects are, it’s the number that is important. Write numeral on the chalk board outside, on the patio, on a piece of paper etc. Make sure that the digits are the right way round e.g. 13 not 31.  If this is a misconception, show them what 31 would look like with the manipulatives.
Try to match the number of counters, objects etc that they are shown / given to a number card.

Topic
Build a type of toy town for the Naughty Bus.  Use whatever you like.  Make the building tall and wide and short.  Can you add in any of the London landmarks?

The idea for this is that you leave it up overnight and for the children to wake up tomorrow to find that the Naughty Bus has knocked it over!!! Tomorrow’s writing will be based on this.
(Take the Naughty bus away tonight.  Put him in a place he can’t be found – he is going on holiday because he is ashamed of knocking the toy town over.)

Music
Log into Charanga using your wonde card or login details, and have a look at the Big Bear Funk assignment set. This is the first time we have used this online so hopefully it will work!

Literacy
Naughty Bus has knocked down toy town!
Children to tidy up toy town and then to start Literacy.  Talk and think together about what the Naughty Bus has done.  Verbalise sentences about what he has done. How is the child feeling? Shared write (adult to write) what has happened in a couple of simple sentences that the child says.  Then children should write their own sentences; these can be the same or different to the ones they wrote with adult. Don’t let them copy yours though!
Concentrate on HFW: he, they, this…have…

Read some books on Bug Club.

Maths

Doubling and halving
On a ladybird talk about the number of both sides being the same or equal and counting e.g. 4 and then another 4 to equal 8.  Introduce the idea that when the number on each side is the same we say that the number is double and show it pictorially in a number of ways.

Use this example of a ladybird and play with adding dots or cut out circles to each side to represent doubles.
Here are some ideas of what to do:
•    Children could work in pairs with one throwing a die and making an array of that number e.g. from multilink, a row of counters, pegs on a board etc and the partner must make the same amount and then they find the total together by adding the two equal numbers to find the double.
•    To find dominoes that have double arrays shown on them, say the double sentence. E.g. double 5 is 10. Can you write this as a number sentence?
•    To complete part, part whole or bar model  (no bar model in cluded in resources as we haven’t taught it yet and it is really Y1, but if you wish to do it, see example) Can you write this as a number sentence?

RE
Play some trust games to introduce the idea of following and trusting someone eg Simon says; blindfold games or Follow My Leader.
Talk about the ideas from these games which is to copy or trust someone. Ask: Why is it important we copy or trust our friends or family? When shouldn’t we trust people? Ask: When we meet someone new, how do we know we can trust them or follow them?
Talk about when the class was new at the start of the year and how they learnt to trust new friends and teachers. Explain that you are going to find out more about Jesus’ special friends. Have you ever been fishing? Show pictures of fishing on Sea of Galilee with nets. For more examples search google images.

Tell the story of the call of the first disciples interactively eg. children, play people etc.  (Mark 1:14-20; 2:13-17) Explore the following questions and watch this BBC KS1 clip: The story of Jesus' disciples, Peter and Andrew
What were the friends doing before they met Jesus?
What happened to change their lives after they met Jesus?
What do you think the disciples did the next day? How did they come to trust him as a friend?
Why do you think Jesus chose fishermen?
(They became Jesus’ special friends. They left their homes and families behind, followed him and went from town to town. Others joined them and they all became his first followers. They told people good news).

Don’t let the naughty bus come back yet.

Literacy
The children receive another 2 postcards from the NB who has been to Wales! Look at and read the postcard. (There are two pictures but only one set of writing)

In their books, children to write, saying “The Naughty Bus has been to Wales.” Think about places that your child has been to, or where they might like to go to when all this Lockdown is over.
Children then to write some simple sentences about it:
I have been to …..
I went in the swimming pool.
I put on sun cream.
If you have holiday brochures, the children can cut out pictures and stick them with their writing.
They might want to include the fact that they forgive the Naughty Bus…

Read some books on Bug Club.

Maths:
LO: Uses everyday language related to time (M:SSM 40-60).
A day in the life of a bus driver!
Children to discuss the day of a bus driver. Cut out the pictures and arrange them in the order of the driver’s day.  Then choose one of the three worksheets (they range from easier to hard – the less information on them, the harder the sheet.) Hardest Sheet here, Middling Sheet here, Easiest Sheet here

PE
Can you do each of these activities?

Today we will do our Superwrite as tomorrow we will be writing about the jelly we will be making this afternoon.
Superwrite document download here (or write on a page from your writing book).   Look at the picture.

Describe it verbally in sentences.  What can you see?  What is happening? Children to write their own sentences based on the picture without any adult help.  Afterwards, they can ‘fix it’ with an adult if they would like to.

Read some books on Bug Club.

Maths – doubling/halving same as Tuesday
On a ladybird talk about the number of both sides being the same or equal and counting e.g. 4 and then another 4 to equal 8.  Introduce the idea that when the number on each side is the same we say that the number is double and show it pictorially in a number of ways.

Theme afternoon
Jelly instruction writing and making
Tell the children that it is the NB’s birthday tomorrow.  What could we do?
We can’t have a party for him as he’s a bit too naughty but we could make something for him.
What could we make?
Elicit ‘jelly’!
Does anyone know how to make jelly?
What do we need?
Read the instructions on the jelly packet and make the jelly with the child.  Adult can write the instructions at the same time if you choose to. Make them simple steps.
When the child is in bed, and before the jelly sets, put the Naughty Bus in the jelly. Depending on where he has been already, make sure that he is clean or you won’t be able to eat the jelly!

Friday Naughty Bus will be in the jelly!!!!

Maths
Same as Monday – use different numbers. Allow the child to begin to understand that ten is a group of one lot and then the single items are the extra digit.
Reacpping teen numbers as a visual. 11-14
You might take manipulatives such as straws and ask children to make a group of ten of them and put an elastic band round them.  Place the bundle on the table and show one more straw next to it.  Say that this is 11 and show a number card with 11 on.  Point out that it is one group of 10 and another and that is 11.  Do the same with ten other objects – a group of ten and one makes the number 11. Repeat with a tens frame, Numicon and with Base 10 equipment – Different ways to show that 11 is one group of 10 and another one.

Topic
All our children know that Friday afternoon is ALWAYS FIX IT FRIDAY!  Ask them, they will tell you!  This is when we don’t have anything organised for the children: we have things to fix.  If we have missed something through the week, or need to improve on something this is the time that we do it. Either have a rest, play or go back and complete something from the planning that you haven’t done.

And finally, to calm everything down, click here for Cosmic Kids Yoga
