Admission Arrangements

If you are interested in you child attending Ivy Bank Primary School, please contact the school office to check if there are any places available.  You can also arrange a visit to view the school and meet Mrs Gill - the Headteacher- or contact the school office on 01625 448014 or email admin@ivybank.cheshire.sch.uk

We joined the Aspire Educational Trust on 1st April 2022 and The Aspire Educational Trust is now the Admissions Authority for our School.

We welcome enquiries from parents of children at any age, and encourage you to visit us as many times as you wish with your child before they start school.  An open day is also held during the Autumn term each year to help parents make their choice for the following September.

The admissions process is administered by Cheshire East Council and an application should be made before mid January of the year your child is due to start school in September. Policies apply to all admissions from 1st September including in-year admissions. Cheshire East's fair access protocol will be applied alongside the policy to secure admission of vulnerable pupils from specific groups.

Admissions policies can be found at the bottom of this page

Admission for Nursery aged children

We provide full time nursery places for children whose third birthday falls between September 1st to August 31st of the previous academic year.  Children can only be admitted into our nursery once they have turned three years old.

Parents/carers should contact the school office if they wish to place their child’s name on our nursery waiting list.  Admission to nursery is not based on how long your child’s name has been on the waiting list and unfortunately putting their name on the waiting list earlier does not mean they will get preference to a place.

Nursery places will be allocated for each September in the following April and parents/carers will be contacted by letter if their child is offered a place at our school.  If your child is not successful in obtaining a place, their name will remain on our waiting list and we will notify you in writing of this.

For further information on our admissions procedures for Nursery aged children, please contact the school office.

Applying for a Nursery Place

To apply for a nursery place, you can contact our school directly.  You will need to complete a Nursery Admission Form which you can obtain from the school office.

Admissions for Reception aged children

Cheshire East Local Authority is responsible for the admissions of all our reception places, including children who are already in our nursery class.  The Local Authority will write to you explaining how you can apply for a reception place for your child.  The Local Authority Reception applications must be completed by parents/carers online by the nominated date in the year before your child is due to start reception.  A late application could result in your child not getting a place at the school of their choice.  Parents/carers who have a nursery place at Ivy Bank DO NOT automatically get a place in reception at our school.

For further information please contact Cheshire East Local Authority Admissions Department or use this link Application process for starting school in September (cheshireeast.gov.uk)

Admissions for Year 1 to Year 6 children

Cheshire East Local Authority is responsible for the admissions of all other year group places at Ivy Bank.  You will need to contact the Local Authority to request an "In-Year Admission Form".  Once you have completed this form and returned it to the Local Authority, they will place your child’s name on a waiting list for your preferred school and you will be contacted when a place becomes available.
