School Council
Our School Council
At our school, we believe every child has the right to be listened to, to express their views, and to take part in decisions that affect them. Our School Council plays a key role in making this a reality, reflecting our commitment to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) — especially:
- Article 12: Every child has the right to say what they think in all matters affecting them, and to have their views taken seriously.
- Article 13: Every child must be free to express their thoughts and opinions and to access information.
- Article 15: Every child has the right to meet with other children and to join groups and organisations.
What Is the School Council?
The School Council is a group of pupils elected by their classmates to represent the views and ideas of all children across the school. We believe in democracy, and every class has the opportunity to vote for their representatives each year.
School Council representatives meet regularly to:
- Share ideas from their class and suggest improvements to school life
- Work with staff to develop pupil-led projects and events
- Organise charitable fundraising and awareness activities
- Promote inclusion, kindness, and responsibility across the school
Why the School Council Matters
The School Council helps our children understand their rights, develop leadership and communication skills, and take pride in having a voice that shapes their school. It strengthens the partnership between pupils and staff and encourages a sense of ownership, respect, and active citizenship.
Our School Council reflects who we are: a school where every child matters, every voice is heard, and every idea has the power to make a difference.
