Ivy Bank Curriculum

Ivy Bank Primary School follows the National Curriculum for Key Stages One and Two and the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum for the children in reception and nursery.  We aim to develop a modern curriculum that inspires and challenges all learners and prepares then for the future. Maths and English are taught every day and build on what the children already know where the curriculum is enhanced through memorable experiences which include: visits, visitors, trips and special events throughout the year. We place a strong emphasis on English and Mathematics, alongside the development of thinking skills (metacognition). This ensures pupils acquire the essential knowledge, understanding, and skills needed to become confident, independent learners. Through active learning, pupils are encouraged to take ownership of their progress, develop effective self-regulation strategies, and adopt lifelong learning habits. These foundations help them grow into resilient, adaptable individuals prepared for future challenges.

To find out more about how we are complying with our duties in the Equality Act 2010 and the Special Educational Needs and Disability Regulations 2014 by making the curriculum accessible for those with disabilities or Special Educational Needs, please refer to our pages Ivy Bank Primary School: Equality and Ivy Bank Primary School: Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
