Year 3 Friday 3rd April

Date: 2nd Apr 2020 @ 7:23pm

Well Done Year 3! You have completed another week of home learning. Thank you for all your lovely emails. We have loved hearing all the things you have been doing and seeing photos of your creations. Next week is the Easter holidays so we won’t be setting you daily tasks, you deserve a break!  However we will put some fun (optional) activity ideas up on the website for you on Monday just in case you want something to do.

If we are still learning from home after the holidays, we will follow a similar timetable. So keep looking at the website for information.

Have a great Easter, keep working hard and we look forward to seeing you all soon.

From Mrs Thompson and Miss Bedford

This week we should have gone on a trip to the Silk Museum for our Egyptian topic. The Silk Museum have sent a link to their website where there are lots of different activities to try. Unfortunately, they don’t have their Egyptian resources ready yet but perhaps you could have a look over the holidays and pick a new topic to learn about! https://www.macclesfieldmuseums.co.uk/news

The following activities are for you to complete at home or in school if you are able to attend. Tasks will be completed either online or in your home learning book, which your parents can check. Please ensure any work completed in your home learning book has a date and title.

Remember new work will be uploaded each evening for the following day.

Start the day with some exercise with Body Coach Joe Wicks. He will be doing live PE lessons on his youtube channel at 9am Monday - Friday if you and your family want to join in!

For a calming start to the day why not try ‘Cosmic Yoga’ https://www.youtube.com/user/CosmicKidsYoga

Reading

  • Spend 15 minutes reading independently. You can choose to read your own book, a school book, a bug club book, magazine, newspaper or comic. Pick something you will enjoy and spend the time reading for pleasure.

Times Table Rock Stars

  • Spend 15 minutes practising your times tables.

Grammar Task

  • Complete the questions on Adverbs (What is an adverb?) in your home learning book. This is consolidation of the work from Tuesday.

Maths Task

  • Arithmetic Challenge: in the ‘files to download’ section of the website is an arithmetic test. Give yourself no more than 30minutes to complete as many questions as you can. Record your answers in your home learning book.

There might be a few questions on fractions, have a go but if they are too hard then miss them out as we haven’t covered fractions yet!

  • There are two levels. Most of you should be able to complete level 2 but if this looks a little tricky for you try level 1.
  • If you can, ask an adult to check your work and help you with any questions you get wrong.

Writing Task

  • Create your own animal/creature.
  • Draw it, label it and then describe it.
  • Write your description in your home learning book.
  • Remember your sentences need to be Year 3 sentences so try to include: conjunctions, prepositions, adverbs, adjectives, exciting openers and punctuation.
  • If you can, use joined up handwriting.
  • We would love to see your animal/creatures, so send us a picture if you want!
