PE and Sports Premium Funding

Purpose of the Funding

Schools must spend the additional funding on improving their provision of PE and sport, but they will have the freedom to choose how they do this.

Our use of the funding:

As a primary school committed to high-quality Physical Education, we have proudly maintained the Platinum School Games Mark since 2022/23. To uphold this recognition, we continuously evaluate and enhance our provision. For 2024/25, we identified key areas for development: increasing engagement among SEND pupils, Pupil Premium students, and girls in P.E.

Our objective was to create an environment where every child - regardless of background or ability - feels empowered to participate in sports, fostering a lifelong love for physical activity. Through strategic planning and innovative programming, we sought to remove barriers to engagement and ensure equitable access to P.E.

Implementation

To achieve our goals, we introduced a multi-faceted approach that catered to diverse needs:

· Expanded Extracurricular Offerings: A wider range of after-school sports clubs ensured accessibility for all pupils, particularly those from Pupil Premium backgrounds.

· Lunchtime Sports Rotations: Student-led sports activities provided additional opportunities for engagement, making participation more frequent and inclusive.

· Pupil Voice & Evaluation: Feedback from school council meetings and P.E. deep dives allowed us to tailor our offerings based on student interests and perceived barriers to participation.

· Professional Athlete Workshops: Continuing our tradition, we hosted inspiring events, including:

o Two full-day BMX workshops led by Mike Mullen BMX Academy for Year 5/6.

o Six-week P.E. sessions with Pearson Sports & Fitness, integrating professional coaching and staff CPD for each year group.

o Trampolining fitness workshops by JDK Fitness, engaging all children, including those in resource provision.

· Inclusive Sports Initiatives: To enhance SEND engagement, we utilized table cricket provided by School Games and invested in three table tennis tables to foster inclusivity.

· Innovative Engagement Activities: Events such as a quidditch workshop (spanning two days) and a Tough Runner obstacle course allowed all students, including SEND and Pupil Premium groups, to participate in thrilling new physical challenges.

Impact

Our initiatives yielded significant positive outcomes:

· Increased Participation Rates: A notable rise in attendance across sports clubs, lunchtime activities, and workshops, particularly among target groups.

· Greater Inclusivity: SEND pupils actively engaged in tailored sports, while Pupil Premium students accessed free extracurricular opportunities.

· Empowered Student Leadership: Sports Leaders gained valuable experience facilitating lunchtime sessions, promoting peer-led engagement.

· Improved Staff Expertise: P.E. staff benefited from professional development opportunities, enhancing their confidence in delivering high-quality sports instruction.

· Heightened Enthusiasm for Sports: The introduction of unique activities, such as quidditch and BMX workshops, sparked excitement and motivation among pupils.

Sustainability

To maintain and build upon our achievements, we have implemented the following sustainability strategies:

· Continuing Professional Development (CPD): Staff will undergo annual training sessions to maintain expertise in inclusive P.E. delivery.

· Long-Term Partnerships: Ongoing collaborations with professional athletes and external organizations will ensure high-quality engagement.

· Student Leadership Expansion: Training additional Sports Leaders will strengthen peer-led initiatives and lunchtime activities.

· Embedding Inclusivity in School Culture: By integrating accessible sports into everyday practice, we aim to create lasting change where inclusivity remains at the heart of our P.E. program.
