Week 6 - Chinese New Year

Chinese New Year 2021 will fall on Friday, February 12th, 2021. As a public holiday, Chinese people will get 7 days off from work from February 11 – 17 in 2021.

Chinese New Year is a festival that celebrates the start of a new year in the Chinese calendar. It is sometimes called the Lunar New Year, or Spring Festival, as it is celebrated in lots of places in the world, including China, Vietnam and South Korea.

The order in which the animals managed to cross the river was the order in which the Jade Emperor named the different years. The ox helped the rat during the race but then the rat tricked the ox and won. This meant that the ox came second so the second year was named after the ox.
