Maths -  CONVERTING BETWEEN UNITS OF TIME

We have already looked at converting between some units of measure including length and mass. We are now going to look at converting between units of time. This is a skill that you will continually use throughout your life. Time is studied throughout all year groups so this week's work should not be completely new to you. Along with studying this aspect of time you also need to reflect on how well you can tell the time. A little bit of time telling practise may be needed if you are not confident with this.

I have attached a Time Knowledge Map which summarises some key time facts to help you. In addition there is a link to a year 4 lesson on Oak Academy below which could provide a quick time telling refresh and some different types of problems to try to solve.

https://classroom.thenational.academy/lessons/measures-time-marathon-training/

Monday

To convert between seconds, minutes and hours.

https://classroom.thenational.academy/lessons/to-convert-between-seconds-minutes-and-hours/

Tuesday

To solve problems involving converting between hours and minutes.

https://classroom.thenational.academy/lessons/to-solve-problems-involving-converting-between-hours-and-minutes/

Wednesday to Friday

To secure your learning I would like you to work through the 5 chapters of the Maths No Problem Text book (attached). Do the Guided Practise questions (answers attached) and then complete the relevant workbook worksheets in Workbook 5B. Spread these chapters over the three remaining days of the week.

For anyone who fancies a bit more I have attached some problem solving and reasoning challenges.

Computing - Purple Mash

On purple mash there are a few activities set in your 2Do's in relation to some of the work you have been doing this week, this is just so we can see what you're doing and if you're understanding it! :D

1. There is an activity on types on rocks.

2. There are two activities on writing instructions, the first is sequencing instructions for making jelly and the second is writing the instructions. Maybe you could make some after you've written the instructions to see if it works?!

3. There is an activity on converting units of time.
