Year 6 2020 - 2021
Miss Hutter
I am in my fourth year at Ivy Bank and this will be my second year teaching in year six. I'm really looking forward to having a fantastic year with all the year 6's; watching them grow and achieve amazing things! The highlight of the year has to be our residential to Condover and the end of year production.

Miss Hutter and Mr Herd have two full time teaching assistants, Mrs Copestake and Mr Fish and Mrs Hartley-Dickens works part time.
Welcome to Spring Term in Year 6!
This term our topic is Extreme Earth. The children will find out about different types of extreme events, such as volcano eruptions, earthquakes and tsunamis, finding out how and why they occur and researching historical events. We will immerse your children fully in this engaging topic, as well as experiencing extra curricular events such as upcoming trip to Robinwood in March/April.
To find out more about what we're learning this term download our overview below and keep an eye on our page where we will showcase what we have been learning.
Homework
Children in Year 6 are expected to read at least three times a week at home. We understand that they are becoming more independent readers, however, they are expected to record all their home reading in their reading records and these must be signed by an adult. Reading Records and reading books must be in school each day and records will be checked on a weekly basis.
In addition to this, English and Maths homework will be given out on a Wednesday and will be due in the following Monday. Homework will be a variety of tasks set with the purpose of reinforcing work we have covered in the classroom that week.
There will also be termly, optional P.A.W.S. homework. The children are set a variety of tasks linked to the curriculum which they complete throughout the term.
As we near SATs the children will bring test papers home as homework.
P.E
P.E. is on a Monday and Friday each week. The children require indoor P.E kit including t-shirt and shorts and for outdoor P.E they need leggings, shorts or joggers, t-shirt, trainers, a spare jumper and an extra pair of socks. Please can all long hair be tied up for P.E. Children will need to bring a hair bobble if needed.
