Year 4 2019 - 2020

Mrs Picksley

I have been teaching at Ivy Bank for more than seventeen years now - the children here are so amazing that I have never wanted to leave!! I currently share a class with Mrs Gibbon and we enjoy working closely together with Mr Woods, to ensure an exciting curriculum for all the children to enjoy.

Mrs Gibbon

I have worked at Ivy Bank for over ten years, across Key Stage 2. The highlight of my school year is Arts Week when I enjoy letting my creativity run wild!!

Mr Woods

I have worked in a number of schools in both Cheshire and the London areas. I have taught in all year groups from year three to year six and have been teaching for 17 years. This is my third year here and I am pleased to be part of the fantastic team at Ivy Bank.

During the Autumn Term, the children will be learning all about Invaders and Settlers through the History & Geography topic of 'Look Who's Coming!' This will involve a study of the Anglo-Saxons and Vikings.

Homework:

Children in Year 4 are expected to read at least three times a week at home and will need their reading books and records in school each day. In addition to this, Literacy homework is given out on a Friday and due in for the following Friday. Numeracy homework is given out each Monday and due in the following Monday.

If you have any problems with completing homework, please feel free to use your child's Reading Record to write us a note about it. We understand that children do have lives outside of school and occasionally work may need to be handed in a little late.

Don't forget...

PE is on a Tuesday for Mr Woods' class and on a Tuesday and a Friday for Mrs Picksley & Mrs Gibbon's class. The children require kit for indoor PE including shorts and t-shirt, and for outdoor PE they also require leggings or jogging bottoms, a jumper, clean socks and trainers.

Swimming is every Tuesday in the Autumn Term and Spring Term. It is recommended that all children should wear a swimming cap. (The children receive help from staff to put these on!)

On a personal note, please can long hair be tied up for school, as this helps prevent the spread of headlice and stops hair interferring with work.

Thank you.
