Year 1 2021 - 2022
I have been working at Ivy Bank since 2010 and in that time I have taught in Year 2, Year 3 and Year 6. Working at Ivy Bank is great fun because the staff are all very kind and friendly but most importantly the children are fantastic! When I am not at school, I like to go walking in the hills and spend time with my family.
I am looking forward to an exciting year in Year 1, please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or queries: email@example.com
I have worked at Ivy Bank for over 22 years! In that time I have taught in year 1, year 2, and within the resourced provision. I love engaging children and witnessing the 'light bulb' moments! When I'm not at school I enjoy reading and going to the gym. I am looking forward to another exciting year in year 1, please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or queries.

In line with Letters and Sounds, year one children are given a spelling based homework every Friday. Please can you ensure their homework books are handed in by Wednesday. Phonics games are also listed in our 'Useful links' section.
At the end of the year the children are expected to spell most of the Year 1 common exception words - please see a list of these words below:'Year 1 Spellings'.
Every week we set a maths activity linked to what the children have been learning that week. This will also be set on a Friday and handed in on a Wednesday.
PE days are:
- Monday - Outdoor PE
- Wednesday - Indoor PE
- Monday - Outdoor PE
- Tuesday - Indoor PE
As it gets colder, for outdoor PE your child will need leggings/jogging bottoms and a suitable top (they can wear their school cardigan/sweatshirt if you wish). Children also need trainers. Children also need shorts and t-shirt for indoor PE.
Individual Reading Books
Children are heard by an adult during the course of the week through individual reading and whole class guided reading. Children should be encouraged to read daily to an adult for 10 minutes, taking time to talk, answer questions when appropriate and to recap what they have read.
Children change their reading books at least once a week at school. Children are also encouraged to use Reading Eggs at home.
Mrs Nesbitt works within the year group covering Teacher’s PPA time (Each teacher has time every other week for planning, preparation and assessment).
Mrs Barber also has SENDCO time every Tuesday and Thursday, therefore Mrs Amin teaches on these days.
Miss Williams has ECT time every Monday, therefore Mrs Corrigan teaches on this day.
