FS2 2018 - 2019

Mrs Thomas

Mrs Thomas

I have been a teacher at Ivy Bank for the last 5 years and am now the manager of the Early Years Department. I enjoy being part of the wonderful team that we have in EYFS here and am constantly amazed at how the children learn and how much progress can be made at such a young age. I look forward to my journey with your children!
I have two children of my own: Sophie who is 17 and learning to drive and Oliver who is 15. I enjoy singing, dancing and drama and eating! I have recently got married so some of you may know me as Mrs Cartwright, although most of the children are now calling me Mrs Tom!
If you need to contact me directly, please email me at sthomas@ivybank.cheshire.sch.uk
Please be aware that I will probably not be able to read or check emails during the school day. If your message is urgent, please phone or email the school as usual.

Mr Walker

Mr Walker

I am currently teaching in EYFS2, having previously taught in Year 2, Year 3, Year 4 and Year 5 for a number of years at Ivy Bank School (though I am only 10 and an increasing bit years old!) I love solving Rubik's Cubes and mucking around on computers in my spare time.

Welcome to EYFS2!

We have 2 teachers - Mr. Walker & Mrs Thomas.

We are fortunate to have a number of wonderful teaching assistants to help us - Mrs Amin, Mrs Matthews, Miss Press, Mrs Cocker, Miss Brooks, Miss Larkins, Miss Bentley. (Mrs Matthews is currently on maternity leave)

Our Topic

This half term our topic is: 'Transport'. We will be reading about 'The Naughty Bus,' and writing about the adventures our class buses have.

Reading Books

Please make sure your child's reading books and record are in school every day. We recommend that you read with your child for a short time, every evening.  For 5 reads or more in each week, the children receive 5 merit points and a sticker - they LOVE stickers!

Sight word wallets - please let us know if your child is ready for new sight words to add to their wallet - please ensure these remain in book bags.

PE

PE kit is needed in school every week. Your child will need to have named shorts and t-shirt in a named bag.   We leave the PE kit in school for the whole half term and we send it home for a wash over the holidays. Our allocated PE time is on a Wednesday.

TRAINERS ARE NOT NEEDED UNTIL AFTER EASTER.

Homework

  • 'Homework Books'  will feature a piece of work to support an area of your child's learning. These will be sent home on a Friday and will be due in before the following Thursday.

  • Home News books - these are sent home on a Friday and collected in on a Monday.  Please let your child write a sentence - they are all capable of this (some with adult support), but it is their writing we want to see.  It is a time for you to share with them.

  • PAWS (Purposeful Activities Without School) - This homework is optional.  Why not choose one of these activities each week to complete?  You will find these at the back of your homework book.

  • Phonic Books - These are set up when the home news book are finished and will contain homework relating to what your child has been taught or needs consolidation in from the week.

  • Intervention homework (for those who are completing it) is handed out on a Thursday and you will have a week to complete it.  Please send the whole pack back into school with your child including the envelope.
